Product description
Product description Comfeel Plus Ulcer Dressing consists of a semipermeable polyurethane film coated with a flexible, cross-linked adhesive mass containing sodium carboxymethylcellulose and calcium alginate as the principal absorbent and gel forming agents. The dressing is permeable to water vapour but impermeable to exudate and microorganisms. In the presence of exudate, the absorbent components absorb liquid and swell to form a cohesive gel. The dressing is waterproof and the patient may bathe or shower with it in place. Indications Comfeel Plus Ulcer Dressing can be used in the management of low to moderate exuding venous leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, superficial burns, superficial partial - thickness burns, donor sites, postoperative wounds and skin abrasions. It can also be used to rehydrate necrotic tissue, which is then removed by autolysis. Contra-indications Comfeel Plus Ulcer Dressing should not be used on exposed muscle or bone, or applied to patients who are known to be sensitive to one of the ingredients. Method of use If clinically indicated, the wound should be cleansed in accordance with normal practice and the surrounding skin thoroughly dried before application of the adhesive sheet. A dressing should be selected that provides about 2 cm overlap around the wound margin to ensure good adhesion. Using the handles to ensure aseptic application, the protective paper is removed, and the dressing placed with the adhesive side to the wound after which the handles are removed. Ulcers and cavity wounds greater than 5 mm deep may be half filled with a suitable cavity wound dressing prior to the application of the adhesive sheet. Frequency of Change The frequency of dressing changes will be governed by the state of the wound. In general, ulcers containing slough and necrosis may require changing every 2-3 days, but clean granulating wounds may require less frequent treatment and in these situations the dressings may be left in place for up to seven days. Directions If clinically indicated, cleanse the wound and dry the surrounding skin. Select a dressing that overlaps the wound by about 2 cm. Remove the protective paper aseptically and apply the dressing with the adhesive side to the wound, then remove the handles.
