Want to play guitar or bass with two amps at the same time? Great idea! The problem is, it hums. And not just a little! In fact, it's deafening. Luckily, the Palmer saar guitar splitter is here to save the day. The saar separates the grounds of the two amplifiers, which prevents any ground loops, and therefore any hum when interconnecting multiple amplifiers. The Palmer saar passively returns the input signal to the output for amp 1, while an active FET circuit returns the signal to the output for amp 2. Since the input impedance of the FET circuit is very high, there is no loss of sound quality. The output for amp 2 is also decoupled from ground by an audio transformer. To break a ground loop, simply press the Ground Lift selector. The output for amp 2 is low impedance and reliable, which allows the use of long cable lengths without any degradation in sound quality. An important feature is the polarity reversal switch on the second output. The signal polarity of guitar/bass amplifiers is not standardized. Two amps operating simultaneously can therefore be in phase or out of phase. In the latter case, the overall sound unpleasantly lacks presence and body. To solve this problem, simply press the polarity reversal selector on the Palmer saar. Of course, nothing prevents you from using this selector as a sound design tool if you wish: the sound obtained with the two amps out of phase can sometimes be an excellent creative option!
