This untreated natural stone comes from the Troy region of Turkey. Travertine (Latin 'lapis tiburtinus' stone from Tibur) refers to more or less porous limestones of light, usually yellowish to brown colour, which is derived from cold, warm or hot freshwater sources as a source lime. The precipitation of the natural stone is caused by the heating of the water in the air, whereby carbon dioxide escapes, thus reducing the solubility for the limescale. The small cavities and holes were created by enclosed plant parts during the formation of the rock. The fine pores bind the excess water of the soap and thus allow optimal storage. The travertine is permeable to water and thus keeps the soap pleasantly dry. Application: The travertine can be used as a decorative soap dish or as a coaster.
