From a public edict of August 20, 1869, on the 30th of the same month the contract for the construction of the tram system in Dersaadet is signed. Five months later, on February 18, 1870, the "Tramway Company of Istanbul" was founded.In 1908 the "Tunel" line was opened, which later became part of the Tram Company consortium, and the connection with Taksim Square was enabled.
