The JSF Joint Strike Fighter program was set up to develop a new fifth generation all-weather multi-role fighter capable of constituting a viable substitute for ground strike aircraft in the United States and NATO countries. From the project was born the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II single-seater aircraft. Featuring an amazing technology it features an aerodynamic layout, stealth, trapezoidal wing. Designed to perform air superiority missions, close air support and ground attack, its cell is declinable in different configurations. The F-35A operates from conventional runways, the F-35B is designed for vertical landing and takeoff, the F-35C is ideal for use by aircraft carriers equipped with catapults. The extreme operational flexibility, the offensive load that is capable of transport, the on-board technology and the strong innovation of the project, have supported the current and prospective deployment of the F-35A among the flight departments of numerous air forces.
