Product Description You can install a M. 2 NVMe SSD in the ICY BOX housing IB-1816M-C31 and connect it directly to your PC, laptop or MacBook via a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port. As one of the first external enclosures for M. 2 SSDs with the fast NVMe connection and M-Key socket, the IB-1816M-C31 paves the way for extremely fast on-the-go memory. The ICY BOX housing is suitable for a M. 2 NVMe (PCIe) memory in the form factor 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 respectively for the sizes 22 x 30 mm, 22 x 42 mm, 22 x 60 mm or 22 x 80 mm. Memory modules with the pin assignment M-Key can be used - memory modules with a B-Key or B+M-Key and a SATA (AHCI) connection are not compatible with the housing. Data transfer rates of 10 Gbit/s can be achieved via the fast 2nd generation USB 3. 1 interface (USB 3. 1 Gen 2). The USB 3. 1 port is therefore used to full capacity in the field test with up to 1000 MB/s. The USB 3. 1 port can also be used for data transfer rates of up to 10 Gbit/s. The lightning-fast USB connection is complemented by a modern USB Type-C connector. It is not only comfortable and torsion-proof to plug in, but can also be used on a Thunderbolt 3 port. So the case is also suitable for MacBook and other Thunderbolt 3 devices. The high-quality aluminium case protects the M. 2 SSD and the outer cooling fins support the release of the hot air generated in the case. The M. 2 SSD has no direct contact to the aluminium case. To install an M. 2 SSD in the case, the front side, which is closed with two screws, is removed. The internal board can now be removed and the SSD plugged directly into the M-Key socket and fastened. After inserting the board including the M. 2 memory, the case is closed again with screws. If necessary, two self-adhesive covers can be glued to the front and rear sides. Power is supplied directly via the USB port and a status LED indicates operation and access.
