A microphone, whether dynamic or condenser-type, is any type of air movement that occurs through a pure sound event without modifications. The current, the headwind or the breeze caused by weather conditions, but also a simple stream of air forming around the microphone can cause a bubbling that would ruin the audio recording. Even breathing of the announcer near the microphone can cause crackling. The windbreaker absorbs that breeze and makes sure that it does not enter the microphone capsule. For outdoor recordings, a faux leather windbreaker is especially recommended that keeps the usual wind sounds away from the microphone.
