This salt and pepper set is a classic example of a drakkar from the flowering period of the Vikings. These boats of the Vikings – the Drakkare – were so well built that the Scandinavians with them quickly as if out of nothing, attacking, making rich prey and immediately retreat again. The boats were particularly eye-catching due to their particularly rich decorations with snakes and dragon heads. For movement, the Vikings used sails and rows. The depth of a Drakkar's was no more than 1.5 metres. So the Vikings coped with their long boats on all waters. And if one inland waters did not continue, then the boat has been shouldered by the team and carried to the next water arm to continue the journey. This salt and pepper set is said to remind the brave Vikings who pushed into unknown areas as intrepid sailors, thus uncovering and conquering the world. This beautiful set is an ornament for any table and would certainly have had a place on Odin's table in Walhall.
