This product has multiple uses for system testing and quality assurance, the detection of wiring issues, fault conditions and the testing of system RCD devices. The socket tester can quickly and accurately detect the most common wiring conditions and problems. Simply turn the tester on and plug into the socket, turn the socket on and the results are displayed immediately. It is safe to use as there is no need to unscrew the socket from the wall to check the connections. The tester will indicate the presence of live, neutral and ground connections as well as polarity reversals and missing connections. Unlike most other testers, if the connections are correct the display will show "The wiring is correct". Detected fault conditions are also shown in plain English on the display as well as showing a flashing alarm. An RCD, or earth leakage circuit breaker test facility is also included. Simply press and hold the button on the front of the tester for a couple of seconds. If the RCD breaker is working correctly the LNE indicators on the tester will all go out indicating the loss of power to the socket. Power may also have been lost at other sockets in the area. Don’t forget to turn the breaker back on again at the buildings distribution board after the test in order to restore power to the tested circuit! The EP141 Socket Tester is designed to fit a standard UK 13amp socket and operates between 110 to 250 volts 50-60Hz.
