In 1949, a shared optimism for a new beginning and a new beginning in post-war Europe brought together three engineering friends from the city of Lyon, France. Thus, that summer, Gabriel Corlet, André Colomb and René Sillon, accompanied by their families, leave for their very first family camping holiday. During this family camping trip, the three engineers noticed the lack of portable cooking equipment available on the market for anyone traveling by road or camping outside. With compulsory working holidays now being offered by employers in France, they decided that there would definitely be a demand for it, and the trio decided to create a simple but revolutionary innovation - the first portable energy solution. Soon after, they introduced a small, portable and refillable blue gas cylinder and named it "blue can". With this small blue gas cylinder, the CAMPINGAZ brand was born and the company quickly expanded. As early as 1952, CAMPINGAZ also developed stoves and other easy-to-use and affordable equipment that allow more and more people to enjoy the outdoors. The news of the company's portable cooking solutions began to spread beyond France and iconic blue gas cylinders quickly became popular throughout Europe. With distribution spread across the continent, vacationers could have peace of mind knowing that fuel for their camping and cooking equipment would be readily available, wherever their travels take them. In 1994, CAMPINGAZ was one of the first companies in Europe to introduce a gas barbecue, allowing friends and families to easily cook delicious meals outside in the garden.
