• This olive is manufactured from copper which is softer than its brass equivalent so tightens as a seal easier
• The brass alternatives are harder than this copper olive but can offer greater mechanical strength by biting into the pipework through greater tightening force
• Copper olives are better for use with plastic pipe as they form a seal with less tightening force on the softer pipe
• The use of PTFE tape is not necessary as the olive forms the seal and not the thread. The use of PTFE on the thread can restrict the ability of the olive to form a seal
